PADI Self-Reliant Diver Specialty
Do you want even more independence and control while diving? With the PADI Self-Reliant Diver Specialty, you learn how to plan and execute dives with a high degree of self-reliance. Although diving normally remains a buddy activity, there are situations where a diver needs to be able to act with extra independence — and that is exactly what this course focuses on.
The course is offered by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors and is intended for experienced divers who want to take their planning, safety, and responsibility to a higher level.
What does this course entail?
During the Self-Reliant Diver course, you will learn how to prepare and execute dives independently and responsibly. You will work on, among other things:
Planning independent dives
Advanced gas management and redundant air supply
The use of backup equipment
Risk analysis and decision-making before and during a dive
Improving navigation and situational awareness
Procedures for solving problems independently
The course combines theory with practical training dives , in which you learn to work with extra equipment and redundant systems.

Conditions to start
To begin the PADI Self-Reliant Diver Specialty , you must:
Be certified at least Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
Be at least 18 years old
Have at least 100 logged dives
Demonstrate that you have good navigation and buoyancy skills
